about

The follow-up to their 2014 debut album Chipper– which made the long-list for that year’s AMP award and spawned the singles Pedestal Fan and Different Order.

Stalwarts of the Brisbane scene Tape/Off have played alongside a swag of international acts such as Royal Blood, Kurt Vile, Pity Sex, Earthless and Future Of The Left as well as homegrown bands including Violent Soho, DZ Deathrays, Screamfeeder, The Peep Tempel, Batpiss and Harmony.

The first taste of their long-awaited second album Broadcast Park came with first single, Day In, Day Out. Brimming with Tape/Off’s trademark fuzzed-out catchiness, the aggressively chiming guitars and driving rhythms mirror the track’s urgent narrative of social breakdown amidst a backdrop of class division and social apathy.

Named after 1971 Ozploitation masterpiece Wake In Fright, Tape/Off‘s new single distils that film’s rustic intensity and thinly-veiled malevolence into sub-four minutes of frenetic, scabrous indie rock. It broods, pulses and screams visions of manic reprisals, the rallying cries of “Fair go, mate!” as much in hope as expectation.

It’s a powerhouse album rife with Tape/Off’s scuzzy indie rock sensibilities, not only housing the band’s best songs and musicianship to date but also representing a marked sonic progression from their previous recordings.

about

Tape/Off Brisbane, Australia

"An alt-rock band with punk tendencies or a punk band with a soft spot? Does it matter? Tape/Off get the balance right more often than not, and the innovation in songwriting makes Chipper a thrilling listen. Their world is mundane, agitated and in a perpetual struggle for meaning and purpose, which is to say it’s pretty fucking realistic." Christopher Lewis - Mess and Noise ... more
